Chris said: "When it comes to surface grime or even mould buildup, sugar soap and a basic kitchen sponge are more than enough to get the job done."
Often used to clean walls and prepare them before decorating, sugar soap is also a highly effective stain remover.
The tough cleaning agent can cut through grime and dirt that's built up over time and become stubborn, but Chris advises using a non-abrasive sponge with the cleaner to avoid damaging furniture.
How to clean garden furniture with sugar soap:Step 1: Dilute the sugar soap. Mix according to the instructions on the label, typically a capful or two in a bucket of warm water. You can also decant it into a spray bottle for easier application onto tables and chairs, especially in hard to reach areas.
Step 2: Apply the solution to your furniture using a non-abrasive kitchen sponge or soft cloth. Wipe down all surfaces, paying extra attention to areas with built-up grime or mould.
Step 3: For stubborn patches of mould or dirt, allow the sugar soap solution to sit on the surface for 2-3 minutes before scrubbing.
Step 4: Gently scrub the area using circular motions. Once clean, rinse the furniture thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue.
Step 5: Wipe furniture down with a dry cloth or let it air dry completely before covering or storing
