Dal Fara is a very famous and healthy dish of Uttar Pradesh. Not much oil or spices are used to make it. You can make it for breakfast or lunch. Let us tell you how to make dal fara.

  • Masur lentils
  • Rice flour – 250 grams
  • Urad Dal – 100 grams
  • Gram dal – 50 grams
  • Green chili – 4 chopped
  • Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
  • Red chili powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 4 teaspoons
  • Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
  • Cumin – ½ tsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Ghee – 2 tablespoons
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Green coriander – 3 tablespoons chopped
  • salt to taste

Dal fara recipe
1. To make a Faro, first of all, add 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of ghee and half a tablespoon salt in a pan and boil it.
2. Now remove the water and add rice flour to it. Keep it covered for some time.
3. Soak gram and urad dal overnight or for 4-5 hours. After this, remove the water and grind it coarsely.
4- Mix chopped green chillies, ginger paste, red chili, turmeric, coriander powder, coriander powder and salt in the lentils.
5- This is the stuffing of lentils used in Fara.
6- Now apply ghee on rice flour and make it a little smooth. Add some water if needed.
7- Make small dough balls and roll it like poori, if the edges are torn then cut it with a round pot.
8- Now fill the stuffing of lentils in it and stick it in half.
9- Prepare all the furs like this. Now boil with water in a pan and keep the fara in a steamer and cover it on low flame and cook it in steam.
10- Eat the prepared furs with chutney or cut it and fry it with ghee, cumin, mustard and green chillies.
