Türkiye has delivered a state-of-the-art anti-drone system to Bosnia and Herzegovina, strengthening the country’s air defense capabilities amid increasing unauthorized drone activities over military facilities.
The handover ceremony for the KANGAL FPV Anti-Drone Systemdeveloped by Turkish defense manufacturer Aselsan, took place at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Military Barracks in the Rajlovac neighborhood of Sarajevo.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Defense Minister Zukan Helez, who attended the ceremony alongside Turkish Ambassador to Sarajevo Emin Akseki and Military Attaché Colonel Murat Kul, highlighted the growing security challenges posed by unauthorized drone flights.
“Recently, unauthorized drone flights have been observed over military positions and facilities of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Armed Forces,” Helez said during the ceremony.
“Many countries around the world that invest much more in their defense sector than our country cannot adequately respond to this problem.
Our friendly country, the Republic of Türkiye, has provided us with counter-drone equipment to protect ourselves from unauthorized flights over Armed Forces facilities and to enhance the general security of military positions.”
Helez expressed gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Defense Minister Yasar Guler, noting that Türkiye has made significant contributions to defense reforms and capacity building for the Bosnian Armed Forces since their establishment.
Ambassador Akseki emphasized that the security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with which Türkiye shares historical and cultural ties, remain a priority for Türkiye. He outlined the extensive military cooperation between the two nations.
“I would like to express our great satisfaction in providing support in training military personnel, maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment, and modernization activities,” Akseki stated.
“Our country’s contribution to the European Union Peacekeeping Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUFOR-ALTHEA Operation, which conducts joint activities with NATO, constitutes another dimension of our strong military support to Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
The ambassador revealed that a total of 47 agreements and protocols in the field of military cooperation have been signed between the two countries since 1995, with 28 of these currently in force. Following the speeches, Colonel Kul and Minister Helez signed the protocol for the delivery of the system.

The KANGAL FPV Anti-Drone System, developed with ASELSAN’s game-changing technology, protects military facilities, bases, government buildings, high-level official residences, ceremonial areas, and checkpoints against drones and mini UAVs.
KANGAL can be integrated into security forces’ vehicles to protect against potential risks during travel and stops. FPV-class UAV threats are becoming increasingly widespread and have been frequently observed in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Products in this threat class pose serious risks not only to target cluster units, base areas, and critical facilities but also to individuals and land vehicles.
FPV threats, which are reportedly produced in quantities of at least 1,000 per day at low costs in war zones, must be neutralized with countermeasure systems. The KANGAL-FPV system, developed by ASELSAN, can neutralize FPV threats through electronic attack methods.
