N. R. Narayana Murthy is a well-known Indian entrepreneur and the co-founder of Infosys one of the worlds leading IT services companies. Recently Murthy sparked a huge debate in the country when he suggested that Indias work culture needs to change and that youngsters should be prepared to work for 70 hours a week.
Meanwhile Infosys’ recent declaration of a final dividend of Rs 22 brings positive news not only for its regular shareholders but also benefits the promoter group members. This announcement was made on Thursday April 16 along with the company’s financial results for the March quarter. Eighteen-month-old Ekagrah Rohan Murty the grandson of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy is set to receive a whopping Rs 3.3 crore in dividends from Infosys. Despite his young age Ekagrah owns 15 lakh shares in the company which amounts to a 0.04% stake a remarkable start to his financial journey.
When Ekagrah was only four months old his grandfather Narayana Murthy gifted him 15 lakh shares of Infosys. Ekagrah the son of Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan has since become one of the youngest billionaires in India. As of March 2024 these shares were valued at approximately Rs 240 crore.
Akshata Murthy the daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy is poised to receive a substantial dividend payout. With 3.89 lakh Infosys shares under her name — accounting for a 1.04% stake as of December 2024 — she is expected to earn nearly Rs 85.71 crore from the company’s most recent dividend declaration.
According to the media reports Infosys has set May 30 as the record date to determine which shareholders are eligible for the announced Rs 22 final dividend. The company also stated that the dividend will be paid out on June 30 as per an exchange filing made on April 17.
Ekagrah Rohan Murty who arrived in November 2023 in Bengaluru is the youngest grandchild of Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty completing the trio with his older siblings Krishna and Anoushka. Ekagrah is the son of Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan whereas Krishna and Anoushka are the daughters of Akshata Murty and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The birth of Ekagrah in November 2023 brought immense happiness to the Murthy family as Narayana and Sudha Murthy welcomed their third grandchild. His name “Ekagrah” is steeped in Sanskrit meaning symbolizing unwavering focus and determination much like Arjuna the legendary archer from the Mahabharata.
