Read, Digital Desk : Apple has acknowledged settling the Privacy Class Action Lawsuit involving Siri for the sum of $95 million. The lawsuit alleged Apple recorded users during the unintended interaction with Siri due to verbal cues without the users’ consent which was filed in 2019. The settlement applies to all appropriate users within the United States who possess Siri-enabled devices.

Apple’s Response

In the case Lopez et al v. Apple Inc, the plaintiffs argued that Apple alias ‘A’ used ad targeted profiling generated from Command and Control over Accidental Audio Command that had no intent of being activated. Apple refused all allegations claiming she did not misuse her services but later agreed to a subpoena on the condition of not selling Siri data. Apparently, it was determined that no marketing profiling was generated. Siri data was never sold nor used to create marketing profiles. The company asserted the settlement does not equal guilt but indicates all responsibility has been lifted.
