Even though everyone believed he was crying, star Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi has admitted that he did not cry after being dismissed during his Indian Premier League debut. Instead, he touched his eyes due to irritation from eye pain and the bright screen lights.

After replacing the injured Sanju Samson during the run chase in a match last month, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to make their IPL debut.

Despite being removed for 34 off 20 deliveries, Suryavanshi made a grand entrance on the greatest platform by hitting Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur for sixes in that match.

Everyone thought that 14-year-old Suryavanshi was devastated by the sudden end of his innings since he was spotted wiping his tears as he made his way to the bench.

After their game on Sunday afternoon, Musheer Khan of the Punjab Kings approached Suryavanshi about it, and he now says he didn’t cry that day.

“Yaar, kab roya main yaar? Nahi, aarey kuch, main batata hu. When did I cry? My name is Aankh Bahut Dard Kar Raha. Tell you what, it was nothing like that. My eyes hurt a lot,” Suryavanshi was heard saying in a video that Rajasthan shared on social media.

Udhar hi screen k upar dekha aur main out hote. Gayi aankh pe light, hua aankh aise aise. Abhi main bahar gaya, kyu raha thha kyu log mere se puchh rahe thhe ro? Main nahi roya thha, aarey. I was irritated because as soon as I walked out and the light came on, I glanced at the screen. Main jaa raha thha, aankh mein wo chala gaya. Everyone questioned me about my tears as I went out. The brightness was the reason I didn’t weep,” Suryavanshi said.

With a remarkable strike rate of 219.1 and an average of 32.5, the 14-year-old has amassed 195 runs for Rajasthan in six games. Despite the fact that the squad is not in the running for the playoffs, Suryavanshi has performed well for the team.
