On Monday, the Supreme Court expressed strong disapproval of Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah's comments directed at Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, an Indian Army officer who had addressed the media regarding Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. The court made it clear that it would not accept the minister's apology.
In response to the situation, the Supreme Court has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of three senior IPS officers, including a female officer, all from outside Madhya Pradesh, to investigate the remarks made by Minister Vijay Shah regarding Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.
The Apex Court emphasized the importance of responsible communication from public figures, stating, "You are a public figure. A seasoned politician. You should weigh your words when you speak. This is a significant issue for the armed forces, and we must act responsibly."
Furthermore, the Supreme Court has decided to stay the arrest of Minister Vijay Shah, mandating that he must join the investigation and fully cooperate with the SIT.
