For the Men Asia Cup to be held in September, a final decision will be taken in the upcoming ACC (Asian Cricket Council) meeting chaired by Pakistan Cricket Board President Mohsin Naqvi. However, sources say that India has already informed ACC that it will neither play nor host it in the tournament. Without India’s participation, the event is likely to be canceled or completely abolished. Since, Mohsin Naqvi is currently the chairman of the ACC, so he will have to bear all financial losses.
This step indicates a comprehensive change in India’s attitude towards cricket relations with Pakistan. With the withdrawal of India, the future of this year’s Asia Cup has fallen in serious doubt. The tournament, which was to be played in a T20 format at a neutral place for the preparation of the 2026 T20 World Cup, was to be included in five countries – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. India is the last winner of the Asia Cup, who won the title in 2023.
