Team India Asia Cup 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to withdraw the name from the Asia Cup in September and the Women’s Emerging Team Asia Cup next month in Sri Lanka. According to reports, the BCCI has taken this decision because the Asia Cricket Council (ACC) is currently chaired by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Pakistan Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

In a conversation with the Indian Express, a source associated with the BCCI said, “The Indian team cannot play in a tournament that is organized by the ACC and the head of which is a Pakistani minister. This is the spirit of the country. We have informed ACC about their return from the upcoming Women’s Emerging Team Asia Cup and our future participation in their events has also been stopped with the Indian government.”

The last Asia Cup was played in 2023 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. At the same time, India was to host the 2025 Asia Cup in September, in which other teams are from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

In 2024, Sony Pictures Network India (ESPNI) had gained broadcasting rights of the next 8 years of the Asia Cup in US $ 170 million. If the upcoming version of the tournament is canceled, then this deal will have to work again.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are five full time members of ACC and they get 15-15 percent of broadcasting revenue. While the rest of the money is received by Associate and Filiberate countries.
