Due to the large number of two-wheeler riders on the roads every day, knowledge, vigilance, and adherence to traffic laws are essential for both individual and public safety. Safe riding is not just a habit; it is a shared obligation, whether that means wearing a helmet, obeying traffic laws, or just being vigilant. In order to make roadways safer for everyone, each rider has a vital role to play.

Road safety is a purpose for Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), not just a checkbox. The goal is to incorporate safe behaviors into people’s daily lives, particularly for the younger generation, rather than only raising knowledge of traffic safety. Through awareness campaigns, regular training, and grassroots initiatives, HMSI is fostering the next generation of responsible road users in India in line with its worldwide goal of attaining zero traffic fatalities by 2050.

Through consistent road safety education initiatives, HMSI has already raised awareness of over 97 lakh people in places like school hallways and urban intersections. One person, one lesson, one ride at a time, it is fostering a culture of safe mobility by adopting six Safety Driving Education Centers and ten Traffic Training Parks nationwide.

HMSI and the Hyderabad Traffic Police recently wrapped up a 6-day Summer Camp at Hyderabad Traffic Training Park, contributing to this expanding movement. More than 750 kids between the ages of 10 and 15 enthusiastically participated in the program. It was more than just involvement; it was a first step toward comprehending decisions that may save lives while driving.

Every lesson was intended to establish lifetime safety habits, from understanding pedestrian awareness, traffic laws, and road etiquette to participating in real-time simulations inside the training park. In addition to these classes, the camp included a variety of self-improvement activities, including self-defense, painting, dancing, music, handwriting practice, cartooning, and personality development, resulting in a comprehensive and unforgettable educational experience.

For HMSI, humans are the first step on the path to zero, not cars. And when kids are taught to think, move, and lead safely from the start, the biggest shift begins. Zero is a goal rather than simply a number. Every ride matters, too.

Establishing the Foundation for Zero Deaths

This program is in line with Honda’s worldwide aim of attaining zero traffic fatalities by 2050 and is part of HMSI’s larger purpose to help the Government of India’s goal of decreasing road accident mortality by 50% by 2030. HMSI offers road safety instruction at six Safety Driving Education Centers and ten accepted Traffic instruction Parks nationwide as part of its CSR outreach. Over 97 lakh people have been made aware of safe driving practices by the firm so far.

Important elements of HMSI’s training courses consist of

Theory sessions on road signs, riding posture, safety equipment, and traffic laws

Virtual simulators that let users experience more than 100 actual traffic dangers

Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT) to enhance risk awareness and hazard prediction

Developing skills Activities for experienced bikers include tight planking and leisurely riding.

Pushing Digitally with E-Gurukul

HMSI launched E-Gurukul, a digital learning platform that provides age-appropriate road safety programs for kids ages 5 to 18, in an effort to increase its influence. Several regional languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and English, are accessible on the site. Schools in India may contact Safety.riding@honda.hmsi.in or use the platform at egurukul.honda.hmsi.in.
