Bryson DeChambeau had pundits and fans in fits of laughter as he mockingly punched himself while on his way to a Sky Sports interview following his near miss at the . The current US Open champion ended up second best at the competition for the second consecutive year, carding a one-under 70 that left him trailing five shots behind the winner, . He shared the runner-up spot with Harris English and Davis Riley, having been in the lead during parts of the third round.

However, before he could dissect his performance in the Sky Sports studio, was spotted by their cameras humorously boxing his own face, seemingly releasing his frustration over the tournament's outcome prior to the interview. Sky Sports commentator and ex-professional golfer Nick Dougherty highlighted the amusing moment, as he said: "He's very much showbiz, feeling like he's a little duffed up by the golf course [today]."

Reflecting on his efforts, DeChambeau felt he was somewhat out of luck in the final stretch of the PGA Championship but remained determined that this experience would fuel his ambition moving forward.

Speaking to Sky, he said: "I felt like I had the game to win this week and the golf course suited me pretty well. Missed a few putts coming down the stretch and got a little unlucky in this great game of golf. It kind of is what it is.

"I'm sure you heard me out there really baffled quite a bit. It was a good fight, good battle, take a lot from it. It's just burning a bigger fire in my belly.

"I'm baffled right now. Just felt like things didn't go my way this week. Drove it really well. I drove it as good as I can, as of right now, I gave myself a good chance. I just felt like a couple breaks went a different way."

DeChambeau has had a strong showing at the season's first two majors, closely challenging Rory McIlroy at the Masters right up to the final round where he was only two shots adrift.

But despite briefly overtaking McIlroy after their rounds commenced, his play unravelled in the closing holes and he ended up tied for fifth, seven-under par.

Although McIlroy secured the win in the playoff against Justin Rose after a dramatic finish, DeChambeau maintains that he might have edged out the 36-year-old for the green jacket that day.

Reflecting on missed opportunities at both majors, he added: "Definitely had an opportunity to beat Rory and definitely had an opportunity to give Scottie a run this week. I was leading after 16 holes on the third round, but man, I just didn't get it done.

"I've got to learn how to be a little more precise with the wind, not let the wind affect the ball as much. It's a tough task to do because I lay it so high and the ball just kind of moves in the air.

"I've got to figure that out. I've got some tricks up my sleeve that I'm going to be working on and hopefully bring for the U.S. Open, but I've got to get some equipment here soon."
