Uttar Pradesh is set to get its fourth international cricket stadium as the CM Yogi Adityanath-led government is building a new facility in Gorakhpur. A land of 50 acres has been chosen in Tal Nadaur as the potential site where the stadium would come up. The estimated cost to build the stadium is INR 236.40 crore, and the project is expected to be fast-tracked.
Out of the 50 acres provided for the stadium, 45 acres would be allotted for the stadium building, while the rest of the land would be used for auxiliary facilities, for example, parking. A new road is proposed to be built from the Varanasi-Gorakhpur highway to link the stadium, which is about 23.6 km away from the Gorakhpur airport, 20.8 km away from the Gorakhpur Railway station and 22 km away from the Raptinagar Bus Stand.
"While international matches are currently held in Kanpur and Lucknow, the construction of another stadium in Varanasi is nearing completion, and work on the Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium will begin soon," an official working on the project said as per a report in The Times of India.
