Rayong, a coastal city on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Thailand, has been named the top Asian destination for “slow travel” by online travel platform Agoda, thanks to its tranquil atmosphere.
“This coastal paradise is a haven for those seeking peace and quiet, with its pristine beaches offering a perfect escape from the crowds,” Agoda said.
“Rayong’s unhurried pace and natural beauty make it an ideal destination for travelers looking to recharge and reconnect with nature.”
Visitors to Rayong can enjoy fresh seafood straight from local fishing boats, explore nearby islands such as Koh Samet, or simply unwind under the shade of palm trees.
The ranking was based on the average length of stays for bookings made on Agoda between January and March 2025.
Indonesia’s Kalegowa came in second, followed by Seoul, South Korea.
Slow travel, immersing oneself into a destination for an extended timeas a local to fully experience the culture, has been gaining popularity in recent years, especially after the Covid pandmeic.
