Latching onto Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent “chutput war” (small war) remark on Operation Sindoor and Rahul Gandhi’s questions over the number of Indian jets shot down by Pakistan, the BJP on Tuesday ( May 20) slammed the grand old party for questioning the valour of the armed forces.

‘Insult to Indian forces’

Senior BJP leader Sambit Patra came down hard on Congress, alleging that such remarks made by Kharge and Rahul were an insult to the Indian military.

Patra asked whether Kharge and Rahul were unable to understand that the Indian armed forces “entered into Pakistani territory” and struck nine terror bases, killing over 100 terrorists. After Pakistan tried to retaliate, India destroyed their 11 air bases, and now Pakistan is “crying in pain,” Patra told Years.

“You (Kharge) are saying that Operation Sindoor was a small war. This is fraud on the nation and the bravery of the armed forces,” he added.

‘Poster boy of Pak’

Accusing Rahul of repeatedly seeking proof regarding Operation Sindoor, Patra said that the Centre had been presenting “digital evidence” of the strike since day one, and Pakistanis themselves have shown evidence of the damage done by the Indian strikes.

“But even then, you are asking for proof of the courage of the armed forces. This is the reason Rahul Gandhi and his leaders have become poster boys in Pakistan,” said Patra, dubbing Rahul as a “favourite” of terrorist Hafiz Saeed. Patra also accused Rahul of “providing oxygen” to Pakistan.

Kharge, Rahul’s questions

The comments by Patra came days after Kharge’s remark at a rally in Karnataka, where he described Operation Sindoor as “chutput war”. Recently, Rahul also claimed that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had admitted that the Centre informed Pakistan about the strikes on terror targets “at the start” of Operation Sindoor. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha had also asked how many Indian jets were shot down by Pakistan as a result of the move.
