On Cannes, France: “Firsts are always special” When Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor made her Cannes debut, she meant it literally.

Janhvi and the crew of her movie, Homebound, walked the famous red carpet of the esteemed film festival on Tuesday night. She did all she could to draw attention with her attire.

Janhvi looked stunning in pink, wearing a special costume designed by renowned designer Tarun Tahiliani. She wore a corset and long pleated skirt made of tissue that was particularly fashioned in Benaras. The outfit was styled by Rhea Kapoor. She added flair to the outfit with a built-in duppata-style drape that was fastened to her sleek bun.

The outer layer of the ensemble was “brought to life with a hand-crushed technique that lent depth and texture, while a signature TT drape added a touch of sculptural fluidity.”

Janhvi has the air of a princess. Her appearance even made many admirers think of her mother, the late actress Sridevi.

With this handcrafted ensemble, which resembles a contemporary lehenga, Tarun Tahiliani skillfully combined modernism and tradition.
