At the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, the Rajasthan Royals defeated the Chennai Super Kings by six wickets, with young Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring the most with a lovely fifty-seven.
As a consequence, unless they defeat the Gujarat Titans, who are now atop the table, by a significant margin on Sunday, CSK will now conclude the 2025 Indian Premier League at the bottom of the points standings. Following three-fers each from pacers Yudhvir Singh Charak and Akash Madhwal (man of the match winner), who helped RR limit CSK to 187/8, Suryavanshi thrilled everyone with four boundaries and as many sixes to help RR finish the chase with 17 balls remaining and put an end to their season’s ghosts of stuttering chases.
Yashasvi Jaiswal lofted Anshul Kamboj over cover-point for six after starting RR’s chase with a gloved four off Khaleel Ahmed. However, Jaiswal’s cuts and lofts, which brought him three fours and a six, put Ahmed to the cleaners once the ball stopped swinging. However, Jaiswal missed his off-stump and went over the line against a delivery of decent length from Kamboj, falling for 36.
RR finished power-play at 56/1 with to brilliant loft and leaning drives from Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Suryavanshi off Ahmed and Kamboj, respectively. As 17 runs came off the eighth over, Suryavanshi hammered Noor Ahmad off the backfoot for six before muscling him for two boundaries, while Samson lofted Ravichandran Ashwin for a down-the-ground six.
After hitting Ravindra Jadeja for two sixes over the long-on fence and hitting Noor for six to complete his fifty, Suryavanshi was unstoppable. Samson holed out to long-on after foxing Matheesha Pathirana with a carrom ball from Ashwin after slamming him for two boundaries.
