Vikram Rathour, the batting coach for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), expressed his confidence in Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s ability to perform well on the next five-match Test tour of England.

Rathour, a former India batting coach who made his Test debut during the 1996 England tour, believes the next series would be difficult for the team without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who just retired.

After RR defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi to finish their IPL 2025 season, Jaiswal and Jurel will have a break before traveling to England with the India “A” squad, where they will play two four-day matches against the England Lions.

Before the Test series begins on June 20 at Headingley, India “A” will play the main Test team in an “intra-squad” match starting on June 13 in Beckenham. The first of the two matches starts on May 30 in Canterbury. Jaiswal and Jurel will also be playing international cricket in England for the first time.

Following his debut at the international level, Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel have already produced some incredible knocks. That youngster has a wonderful demeanor, in my opinion. He is an excellent batter with excellent technique. It will thus be a difficult trip.

Since a youthful squad is departing and the veterans have departed, the trip won’t be simple. The skipper could change. All of these factors will thus increase the pressure a little bit, but they will also provide you a chance to show off your skills and abilities. During the news conference held after the game, Rathour said, “I’m fairly certain that both of them will perform well because they have a lot of talent.”

With a new World Test Championship cycle approaching and India going through a significant change in their Test lineup, some of the conversation has focused on what would have happened if Rohit, Virat, and Ravichandran Ashwin had remained longer. Rathour, however, saw it in a different light.

You see, I believe that retiring is a very, very personal matter. You see, all three of them retired as outstanding cricket players. I thus wish they had continued. However, it’s once again a very, very personal choice.

All three of them are close to me. As I said before, I would have wanted to watch them perform more. But once again, I believe it’s a very, very personal choice. We should honor their choice if they have made it,” he said.
