Six terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir earlier on May 16 as a result of two distinct operations carried out by the Indian Army in cooperation with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kelar, Shopian, and Tral, according to VK Birdi, Inspector General of Police for Kashmir Zone.

“All of the security personnel stationed here reevaluated their plans in light of increased terrorist activity in the Kashmir Valley. There was a greater emphasis on operations after this evaluation. In the previous 48 hours, we have accomplished a great deal via two successful operations that were based on this increased attention and collaboration. Six terrorists were neutralized as a consequence of these two operations, which were carried out in the Shopian and Tral regions of Kelar. The IGP Kashmir said, “We are dedicated to completing the terror ecosystem in the Kashmir Valley.”

In his explanation of the anti-terror operations in the Kelar and Tral regions, Major General Dhananjay Joshi, GOC Victor Force, said that “rescuing” the civilian population was the main obstacle they had to overcome.

“We learned on May 12 that there may be a terrorist organization operating in Kelar’s upper reaches. Our parties confronted the terrorists on the morning of May 13 after seeing some activity, and they fired back. They were neutralized by our parties. A border settlement served as the site of the second operation in the Tral region. The terrorists set up shop in several homes and opened fire on us as we were erecting a perimeter around this area. Our task at the moment was to save the civilian villages. Three terrorists were then eliminated,” Major General Joshi said.

Indian troops have stepped up their campaign against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the Pahalgam terror incident, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including a Nepali citizen.

India conducted Operation Sindoor in response to the terror assault, using precision strikes to destroy terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) and kill about 100 terror operators at strategic sites in Pakistan. Among the objectives were Muridke, a crucial Lashkar training facility, and Bhawalpur, the Jaish headquarters.
