Municipal authorities have made significant preparations in advance of the monsoon season to clear drains, enhance drinking water and drainage systems, and stop disease outbreaks. Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma instructed municipal officials to ensure that these activities are implemented thoroughly and with seriousness at a virtual review meeting on Wednesday.
All pumping stations must be examined and kept in optimal working condition to avoid waterlogging during the rainy season. Local authorities were directed to personally supervise cleaning initiatives in their respective jurisdictions. In order to minimize any rubbish buildup, the minister emphasized the need to bolster door-to-door garbage pickup and making sure that waste is sent to Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) every day.
On May 29 and 30, conferences on women’s empowerment will be conducted in all municipal bodies in observance of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s 300th birthday. These gatherings will emphasize the advantages of women’s work, self-employment, and housing programs. After that, from May 31 to June 15, a special cleanliness campaign honoring Rani Ahilyabai will focus on thoroughly cleaning temples, religious monuments, river ghats, and drains.
In addition, plans will be established to mitigate the impacts of heatwaves and to clean and beautify ponds and reservoirs. Preparations in advance have been required due to the possibility of dengue and malaria brought on by waterlogging. Additionally, extra care will be taken to guarantee that city cow shelters have an adequate quantity of water and feed.
Principal Secretary Amrit Abhijat, Secretary Ajay Kumar Shukla, Director Anuj Kumar Jha, and representatives from Municipalities, Municipal Corporations, and Nagar Panchayats attended the meeting.
