‘It is good to drink more water’. You must have heard this thing many times, but do you know that this water can be harmful for you in some situations? Yes, water can affect like poison in a particular medical condition. Usually, doctors recommend drinking plenty of water to stay healthy. On an empty stomach in the morning, by sipping all day long, but there is a disease in which drinking excess water can be fatal. The name of this medical condition is Hyponatramia.
Hyponatramia occurs when the sodium level in the body goes very low. Sodium is necessary for the balance of water in the body and normal functioning of muscles. When we drink excessive amounts of water, the sodium present in the body becomes unbalanced. This can swell cells, especially brain cells. Which can cause fainting or coma in severe cases.
Constant fatigue, nausea or vomiting, headache or dizziness, muscle cramps, excess sweating and weakness and unconsciousness or coma in severe cases.
Drink water according to thirst, not forcefully. Do not drink too much water at a time, take a small amount of quantity throughout the day. If you workout, eat coconut water or ORS. If you have a heart or kidney disease, then decide the amount of water only with the advice of a doctor.
