Akash Singh Does Notebook Celebration: Playing only his second game of the season, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) left-arm pacer Akash Singh delivered a couple of memorable moments for the fans and also his teammate Digvesh Rathi as he dismissed Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Jos Buttler with a brilliant slower ball before bringing out Rathi’s famous “notebook” celebration.

The GT vs LSG encounter, which was between the table-toppers and a middling team that is out of playoffs contention, ended up in LSG’s lap as Rishabh Pant’s team secured a 33-run victory in Ahmedabad in a high-scoring clash.

Riding on Mitchell Marsh’s blistering century, a knock of 117 runs off 64 balls that included 10 fours and 8 sixes, and a half-century from Nicholas Pooran, who blasted 56* off 27 balls, LSG propelled themselves to 235.

The middle order of GT, who have been over-reliant on their top three this season and are looking for a top-two finish in the points table, were put to the test today as the hosts lost their top three inside 10 overs for 96 runs.

GT’s brittle middle- and lower-middle-order couldn’t withstand the quick asking rate. And though Sherfane Rutherford and Shahrukh Khan put up a fight, GT still ended plenty of runs behind LSG’s total.

Meanwhile, Akash Singh gave the fans and his teammates a fun moment after getting rid of Buttler. Akash got into the side today in place of leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi, who was on the bench due to being suspended for one game after accumulating five demerit points for thrice being reprimanded by the match referees for his “notebook” celebration.

Funnily, though, Akash also did the same celebration after he knocked over Buttler’s stumps with a deceitful slower delivery sent down from around the wicket. Buttler was beaten all ends up as he was prompted too early into a push towards long-off. The ball went through his huge bat-pad gap and crashed into the stumps.

After claiming the wicket, Akash smiled while looking at the dressing room, presumably where Rathi would be, and did the “notebook” celebration, gesturing with his hands that he’s writing the batsman’s name in an imaginary book. The pacer might cop some fine and a demerit point for his celebration, though this one wasn’t in as much aggression as Rathi’s celebrations.

While GT are still at the top, they could slip behind if all three of PBKS, RCB, and MI win their next matches. Indeed, GT could lose on a top-two finish if both PBKS and RCB win their remaining two games each.
