In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on May 22, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showcased an impressive performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by scoring a remarkable 235 runs for the loss of just two wickets against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
After winning the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill chose to bowl first. LSG's opening pair, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, provided a strong foundation, quickly establishing a 50-run partnership during the powerplay, with LSG reaching 53 without losing a wicket, led by Markram's aggressive batting.
Following the powerplay, Marsh targeted Purple Cap holder Prasidh Krishna, hitting him for a six and a four. He achieved his sixth IPL fifty of the season in the 10th over, striking a six off Sai Kishore in just 33 balls.
However, Kishore managed to dismiss Markram shortly after, who scored 36 runs off 24 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Nicholas Pooran then joined Marsh and made an immediate impact, hitting Kishore for a six on his first ball. At the halfway point, LSG stood at 97 for one.
Marsh continued his assault, scoring 25 runs off an over from veteran spinner Rashid Khan, which included two sixes and three fours. LSG surpassed the 150-run mark in the 15th over, finishing that over at 160 for one.
The explosive partnership between Marsh and Pooran continued, with 20 runs coming off Mohammed Siraj's final over. Marsh celebrated his maiden IPL century in just 56 balls during the 17th over. The duo added a staggering 100 runs for the second wicket in just 42 balls.
Pooran maintained his excellent form, reaching his fifth fifty of the season in just 23 balls. The partnership was finally broken when Arshad Khan dismissed Marsh for a brilliant 117 runs off 64 balls, featuring ten fours and eight sixes.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant entered the game for the last two overs, making an impact by hitting Rabada for two sixes, helping LSG to a formidable total of 235 for two in their 20 overs.
In terms of bowling, Sai Kishore was the standout performer for Gujarat, taking one wicket for 34 runs. Arshad Khan also claimed a wicket, while the remaining GT bowlers failed to take any wickets.
