The Government of India has completed the housing survey under the PM Awaas Yojana (Gramin), and verification is ongoing. Now, approved beneficiaries can expect a permanent home, and house designs are customized by region and local conditions.
Each state has been divided into zones based on climate, seismic activity, floods, and soil conditions. The home designs vary accordingly:
Zone-A: High earthquake/wind risk. Design includes earthquake-resistant features and ferrocement channels.
Zone-B: Located in Seismic Zone-III, homes built with stone and soil.
Zone-C: Bundelkhand, in Seismic Zone-II; fly ash bricks with Rat Trap Bonding.
Zone-D: Flood-prone & Seismic Zone-V; lightweight roofs recommended.
Zone-E: Flood and seismic mix (Zones II & III); mud-based homes advised.
Zone-F: Awadh and Doab regions (Zones II & III); brick houses preferred.
Designs account for heavy rainfall, floods, strong winds, and earthquakes.

Based on field studies, the state is split into 4 zones.
Estimated construction costs are included with each zone's design.
₹1.20 lakh is provided for homes in plains.
₹1.30 lakh is given in hilly, remote, or tribal areas (IAP regions).
The amount is released in installments during construction.
Note:
The government does not assign contractors. Beneficiaries must build the homes themselves.
If any official tries to enforce contractor involvement, action will be taken.
