Son Heung-min, a legend in South Korean football, became the focus of a dispute. Because of his ex-girlfriend, the Tottenham Hotspur captain is in the news. In June of last year, Son’s ex-girlfriend allegedly said she was expecting a child. She ended her pregnancy after the football player paid her 300 million KRW and had her sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), even though the paternity test results were never made public.
After learning of the NDA, the ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend attempted to blackmail Son Heung-min for an additional 70 million KRW. This resulted in a police report and, eventually, the blackmailer’s imprisonment. Many people saw an uncanny resemblance to previous celebrity scandals as the scenario developed, particularly the very delicate subject of coerced abortion. These other well-known South Koreans were involved in similar disputes.
Kim Seon Ho
Actor Kim Seon Ho, who rose to fame in 2021 because of his performance in Hometown Cha Cha Cha, was severely accused by his ex-girlfriend of forcing her to have an “abortion.” The public outraged the actor when the event was made public, to the point that he decided to take a break from the business. Later, Dispatch, which is renowned for its celebrity exposés, conducted an investigation and found that his girlfriend’s charges were unfounded.
According to reports, Kim Seon Ho ended his relationship with his partner after learning about her adultery. Furthermore, both parties agreed on the abortion. With well-known productions like The Tyrant and When Life Gives You Tangerines, Kim Seon Ho recovered after the report.
Kim Hyun Joong
Even more grave charges were brought against Kim Hyun Joong, who is well-known for his part in the Lee Min Ho film Boys Over Flowers. He was accused by his ex-partner of forcing her into a “abortion” and abusing her physically. In addition to giving birth to their kid in 2015, she filed a lawsuit seeking enormous damages. But in 2020, after a protracted legal battle, the South Korean Supreme Court declared that Kim’s allegations were baseless.
She was also ordered by the court to compensate Kim with 100 million KRW. In 2024, the actor-singer made a comeback to the stage with Time Without Her, a Japanese-Korean drama.
Heo Ung
Heo Ung, a basketball player for the Busan KCC Egis, had a similar circumstance. His ex-girlfriend, who ended their relationship in 2021, accused him in June 2024 of forcing her to have two abortions and of continuing to demand money from him for three years. If he didn’t pay her, she would go public. The basketball player eventually sued her for slander and blackmail at the Gangnam Police Station. Following a comprehensive investigation, the authorities concluded that the lady had made up the statements in order to profit from them. In the end, the lawsuit was dropped.
