The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, recently visited the Kishtwar district, where a soldier lost his life during an encounter with terrorists. Authorities have indicated that there are still four terrorists believed to be hiding in the area.
According to a police spokesperson, the DGP's visit on Thursday aimed to assess the ground situation and evaluate the strategy of the ongoing anti-terror operation in the Singhpora-Chhatru region, which is currently the focus of a significant counter-terrorism effort.
During his visit, the DGP engaged in detailed discussions with senior officials from the police, army, and paramilitary forces who are leading the operation in the dense forests, alongside Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) Bhim Sen Tooti and Deputy Inspector General Shridhar Patil.
Following a brief exchange of gunfire on Thursday, a joint operation has been launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group (SOG), the army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The spokesperson noted that extensive search operations are underway to flush out the suspected terrorists hiding in the area.
Senior officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kishtwar, are stationed at the site to ensure seamless coordination among the security forces.
The DGP interacted with personnel on the ground, commending their efforts and urging them to continue working with determination. He also issued specific directives to bring all individuals involved in terrorist activities to justice and reiterated the police force's commitment to maintaining peace and stability through ongoing anti-terror operations.
