Following an incredible inaugural season in the Indian Premier League, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the teenage prodigy for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), was welcomed home with great fanfare in Bihar.

After returning to his hometown of Tajpur, Bihar, the fiery left-hander, who was one of the few bright spots in the Royals’ disastrous IPL 2025 campaign, was warmly welcomed. The RR shared the lovely moments in a video that was uploaded on Friday, May 23.

After being the talk of the town for his incredible blitz as an opener for the 2008 IPL winners, Suryavanshi was met with shouts and garlands at his hometown, where family and friends arranged a special cake-cutting ceremony for the kid.

Following strong performances for India U-19, Suryavanshi was signed by the Royals for Rs 1.10 crores prior to the competition. Midway through the season, the 14-year-old entered the Royals’ starting lineup and ended with 252 runs with a strike rate of 206.55.

Following a historic century against the Gujarat Titans, in which he became the youngest IPL centurion ever with 101 off only 38 balls, Suryavanshi became well-known.

On Tuesday, May 20, the kid prodigy defeated the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings in his season-ending run. The Royals had Suryavanshi hammering the opposition from the first ball with his amazing knock of 57 off 33 deliveries, which included four fours and four sixes, after setting an intimidating mark of 188.

The teenage player led the Royals in scoring and helped them win only four times during a terrible season in which RR was eliminated by a string of tight defeats.

Soon after, Suryavanshi sat down to discuss his season with head coach Rahul Dravid. Dravid praised the youngster but cautioned him not to become comfortable and not to return to the Royals camp next summer even better.

You had a really successful season. Proceed in this manner. In a video released by the Indian Premier League, Dravid said, “We need to work even harder and prepare even better because all of the opposition bowlers you see are going to be better prepared because you’ve done so well this season.”

“You need to keep becoming better and learning new things. You are thus a better player when we reunite the following season.” The next time we’ll see Suryavanshi in action is during India’s U-19 tour to England in June and July.
