Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are expected to finish their protracted quest for their first IPL championship this season, according to former India batter Manoj Tiwary. Given that he has smashed several records in the franchise competition over the last 17 years, Tiwary believes that Kohli deserves to win the trophy more than anybody else.

In the 2017 IPL, RCB, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, has become a formidable force. With two league games left, they have already advanced to the playoffs. To secure a second opportunity to reach the final, RCB will now aim for a top-two finish. Following the Gujarat Titans’ latest loss to the Lucknow Super Giants, the road seems to be clearer.

Tiwary claims that the RCB’s current campaign is a lot like India’s 2011 World Cup triumph. Everyone in the country wanted the Men in Blue to win the trophy back then, especially Sachin Tendulkar. When it comes to Kohli and the IPL championship, Tiwary believes the feeling remains the same.

“RCB currently has a very excellent chance of finishing in the top two after the Gujarat Titans’ defeat. It seems like everyone in the universe is trying to assist RCB in winning the IPL and breaking their trophy drought. After all these years, Virat Kohli deserves this. The trophy is due to RCB. If GT loses against the Lucknow Super Giants, RCB has a chance to be in the top two. He told Cricbuzz, “The entire RCB team deserves to win the trophy.”

With 8509 runs, Kohli, who just declared his retirement from Test cricket, is still the IPL’s all-time top scorer. With 505 runs in 11 games at an average of 63.13 and a strike rate of 143.46, he is also leading the RCB scoring lists this season.

However, Virat Kohli is the one who deserves it the most since, thanks to Sachin Tendulkar, we all wished for the Indian team to win the World Cup in 2011. Because he served Indian cricket for so long, we all wanted India to win the World Cup,” Tiwary remarked.

In a similar vein, Kohli has been dominating the list of top run scorers in franchise cricket, making it in each year. For Virat Kohli, RCB must win the title. Encourage him; he has also been an excellent Indian captain. “It will be a tribute to Virat Kohli if RCB wins this year,” he said.

On Friday, May 23, RCB will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last league match. On May 27, they will play their last match against the Lucknow Super Giants.
