The Star reported that in an interview on the final episode of the talk show “Friendship Has No Limits,” Tsang opened up about the difficulties he has faced in his executive role at TVB and recalled his children’s initial concerns.

“They asked me, ‘Why would you take on such a stressful role at your age? You’re already under so much stress—why add more to your plate?’” Tsang reflected.

Tsang also admitted that while he initially believed the role wouldn’t be as taxing, the reality turned out to be much different.

“I overestimated myself,” he confessed. “I thought it wouldn’t be that hard at first, but now I have to follow a strict schedule and keep track of public holidays—things I never had to think about when I was working on movie sets.”

He went on to share the lifestyle changes he had to make, including waking up early to be at the office by 8 a.m. and juggling the demands of a more structured workday, which contrasted with the more flexible schedule he had while previously working in film.

Despite the challenges, Tsang emphasized his sense of duty to give back to the entertainment industry, which he believes has played a major role in shaping his career. Since becoming TVB’s general manager, he has made it a priority to support new talent. Tsang revealed that he often sacrifices personal time to review scripts and mentor emerging directors and writers.

“Back then, the hardest part was finding a boss willing to invest in a shoot,” he explained. “Now, I try my best to help where I can.”

He also emphasized his commitment to ensuring that only good people enter the industry.

During the interview, host Elvina Kong joked about the challenges Tsang faces, noting that he is often so exhausted that “he can fall asleep anywhere.” Tsang agreed, acknowledging the constant fatigue that comes with his responsibilities.

At 72, Tsang has had a distinguished career in show business, starting as a stuntman and later becoming a popular master of ceremonies for TVB events. He has also appeared in numerous successful Hong Kong films, earning multiple awards and nominations.
