Sunrisers Hyderabad have registered a big win by defeating RCB by 42 runs. Batting first, Sunrisers scored 231 runs for six wickets in 20 overs with a strong innings by Ishan Kishan. In response, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave the team a great start, but the RCB team was all out for 189 runs in 19.5 overs. RCB has already qualified for the playoffs, but this defeat has dealt a blow to its chances of strengthening its place in the top two.

Kohli and Salt gave the team a good start with a partnership of 80 runs for the first wicket. After Kohli's dismissal, Salt took charge and also scored a half-century. After Salt's dismissal, RCB's innings faltered and it started losing wickets at regular intervals. The bowlers led by Pat Cummins made a strong comeback. The biggest contribution to this was Ishan Malinga who took the wickets of explosive batsmen like Romario Shepherd and Tim David.

For RCB, Salt was dismissed after scoring 62 runs off 32 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes, while Kohli scored 43 runs off 25 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. Apart from these two batsmen, no one else could play a big innings. Rajat Patidar contributed 18 and Jitesh Sharma contributed 24 runs. The performance of RCB's lower-order batsmen was quite disappointing and four of its batsmen could not even reach double digits, while two could not even open their account. For Sunrisers, Cummins took three wickets, while Malinga took two wickets. Apart from these two, Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, Harsh Dubey, and Nitish Kumar Reddy got one wicket each.
