Pradosh Vrat is observed on Trayodashi of the Krishna and Shukla Paksha. It takes on a lot of significance if it falls on a Saturday, in asking for Lord Shani (Saturn)'s blessings.
On this day, pray to Lord Shiva by pouring water, Belpatra (Bilva leaves), etc., on the Shivling and reciting the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya." For the gratification of Lord Shani, light a sesame oil lamp, give black sesame seeds as donation, and feed the poor.
By performing this vrat (fast), the devotees attain the grace of Lord Shiva and Lord Shani. It is especially beneficial for those experiencing the ill effects of Saturn.
