In the national capital, 23 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported. In light of this rise in infections, the Delhi government has issued guidelines for hospitals to ensure the availability of beds, oxygen, medications, and vaccines.
This marks the first occurrence of COVID-19 cases in Delhi in nearly three years. Health Minister Pankaj Singh announced on Friday that as of Thursday, 23 cases had been confirmed, and the government is gathering information on whether the patients are residents of Delhi or have traveled from other cities.
Singh stated, "The Delhi government is fully prepared to handle any situation. We have already coordinated with the medical superintendents, doctors, and their teams across all hospitals in the capital."
The statement emphasized that hospitals and health centers are on alert regarding preparations, and all necessary resources are being mobilized to ensure prompt response and care.
He added that the health department is closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates to the public. Previously, the health department had issued a notice regarding COVID-19 preparedness to all hospitals under the Delhi government.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the health department reiterated its advisory to all government hospitals concerning COVID-19 readiness, following reports of cases in several states. The government has instructed health institutions to send all positive samples for genome sequencing to Lok Nayak Hospital, stating, "Hospitals must ensure readiness in terms of beds, oxygen, antibiotics, other medications, and vaccine availability."
