Social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, faced a widespread outage on Saturday, with over 25,000 users in the United States reporting issues, according to outage tracking site Downdetector.
In India, users also faced problems accessing core features of the platform. The ‘For You’, ‘Following’ and ‘Notifications’ panels were not loading, and refreshing the feed failed to update timelines.
Downdetector said it began receiving thousands of outage reports by 8:39 a.m. EDT (6:09 p.m. IST), indicating a large-scale disruption.
Several users also said that basic functions such as logging in, accessing the app, and loading the website had become difficult during the outage.
Responding to the ongoing issue, X acknowledged that the platform was still recovering from a data centre outage that began on Friday. “Login and signup services are unavailable for some users, and there may be delays in notifications and Premium features,” the company posted. “Our team is working 24/7 to resolve this. Thanks for your patience, updates soon”.
