Tom Ball, a finalist on Britain's Got Talent in 2022, is barely recognisable since his time on the show. The 27-year-old former teacher made waves on the ITV talent contest with his rendition of Sam Smith's Writing's on the Wall, impressing judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.

He performed Tom Jones' I (Who Have Nothing) after securing a spot in the final. He came third, losing out to winner Axel Blake and second-place Jamie Leahey.

Following his success in the UK, Tom took part in America's Got Talent: All Stars before returning to the British version to voice Noodle The Cat in 2023.

Since his rise to fame, Tom has embarked on a full-time career in music, travelling globally, releasing his own album, and completing his first tour last year.

But it's not just his career that's undergone a transformation; Tom's personal life has seen significant changes too. He recently disclosed a shift in his diet and exercise routine aimed at improving his health after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that prevents the pancreas from producing insulin to control blood sugar levels.

After unveiling a fresh haircut and sharing updates on social media, he explained his motivation: "It was purely that I want to feel better. I want to be able to stand on stage and not get tired. I wanna be able to sing better.

"I just want to be healthier, and subsequently, you know, you end up looking a little bit better, and I had a haircut. It was a really nice moment."

He confided to The Mirror about his dietary vigilance and regular gym sessions, four times a week, to "get back into full health" in preparation for an "exciting" year ahead.

Reflecting on the transformative effect of Britain's Got Talent, Tom shared his thoughts last year.

"I've been so fortunate, and I feel such a deep connection with Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent," he told Metro in an interview.

"It changed my life overnight, because suddenly I was known and I had this platform, and I was so incredibly lucky to have this platform. And it gave me the opportunity to seek other opportunities, to sign my first record deal, to go on my first tour."

Tom also touched on the personal impact: "And also, it does sound a little bit corny, but without it, I probably wouldn't have my family right now, because with the pregnancy we had to go through IVF treatment, and for anyone that's been through IVF knows it's a rollercoaster."

Tom and his partner-of-ten-years Hannah welcomed their daughter Adeline in January this year.

Announcing the joyous arrival on Instagram, he expressed: "We're absolutely bursting with love, and the middle name 'Hope' reflects everything our little miracle has given us throughout a long, difficult journey."

He concluded with heartfelt gratitude: "IVF has now changed our life, and we're so thankful to have our beautiful little girl. Honestly, it's our dream come true."

Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
