Ingredients for Multigrain Bread
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup millet flour (optional)
2 tablespoons flax seeds
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1 1/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
1 tablespoon honey or sugar
1 teaspoon salt
How To Make Multigrain bread
- In a small bowl, combine warm water and honey. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
-In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, rolled oats, millet flour, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds, and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix everything together to form a sticky dough.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You may add a little flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the risen dough to release air. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove the bread from the oven and cool on a wire rack before slicing.
