In a notable political shift, Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the RJD, has expelled his elder son and MLA, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for a duration of six years.
In a statement shared on social media, Lalu Prasad emphasized that Tej Pratap is capable of discerning the positives and negatives in his personal life. He advised that anyone associated with him should make their own choices.
Lalu expressed on X, stating, "Disregarding moral principles in personal matters undermines our collective fight for social justice. The actions, public demeanor, and irresponsible conduct of my eldest son do not align with our family values and traditions. Consequently, I am removing him from both the party and the family. He will no longer hold any position in either realm and is expelled from the party for six years."
He further noted that Tej Pratap is aware of the good and bad aspects of his life, and those connected to him should decide for themselves. Lalu reiterated his belief in public accountability, which he has always championed, and thanked those family members who adhere to this principle.
Tej Pratap's younger sibling and RJD member Tejashwi Yadav commented, "We cannot accept such behavior; our focus is on serving the people of Bihar. Regarding my elder brother, political and personal lives are distinct. He has the autonomy to make his own choices. Our party leader has articulated his stance, and since then, it reflects his sentiments. We have not questioned these matters… I learned about his actions through the media."
