Merit is said to be attained on this day by charitable giving and swimming in sacred waters.

Because they believed that these deeds would bring favors, prosperity, and divine grace, pilgrims from all across the nation congregated at the ghats to conduct these holy rituals.

“We keep coming here, and at least when we do, we take a bath two or three times,” said Ashwini Kumar, who traveled from Delhi to take a sacred plunge in the Ganga. There is a certain aura, and it seems very nice and pious.

Haryana native Umesh Kaushik is traveling to Haridwar with his pals. “This is a very excellent, auspicious Nakshatra, and we have come here to bathe in the Ganga on Somvati Amavasya, which we have gotten the chance to soak up. by taking a Ganges dip. The fact that we have come to take a Ganges dip today is very fortunate for us.

People are encouraged to employ Somvati Amavasya to rid themselves of “Pitru Dosha” since it is devoted to worshiping ancestors or forebears.

In addition to doing rituals like havan and yajna, giving to charity, feeding animals, and chanting mantras, individuals take a holy plunge in holy rivers on this day.

On this occasion, Rama Padmani, from Surat, Gujarat, stated she prayed for the welfare of all Indians. We traveled to Haridwar and bathed. “I have come from Surat, Gujarat, and today is Somvati Amavasya.” The vibe here is different, the mind is at ease, and we are feeling great about Aarti. Everyone had a great time. Everyone benefits from Ganga. We have requested the well-being of every Indian.

Because of its unique importance, Monday Amavasya is celebrated as Somvati Amavasya in remembrance of ancestors.
