Ghaziabad When a police squad was ambushed by a crowd in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, while trying to apprehend a wanted criminal, a Noida policeman was shot dead by unidentified attackers.

In Nahal village, which is part of the Masuri police station area of Ghaziabad, the team from Noida police station, Phase-3, was ambushed on Sunday night as they attempted to apprehend a highly wanted criminal known as Qadir.

During this period, the police unit was subjected to indiscriminate gunfire and severe stone throwing. The incident caused significant injuries to Constable Saurabh Singh, who was assigned to the Phase-3 police station. Despite being sent to the adjacent Yashoda Hospital right after, medical professionals pronounced him dead.

According to accounts, the incident happened on Sunday night when the police squad went to Qadir’s Masuri home to make an arrest. A mob gathered there and became aggressive as soon as the raid started. The cops were abruptly assaulted by the crowd that was there. Following a stone assault on the police squad, some of the mob’s miscreants opened fire.

Sepoy Saurabh Singh suffered a head wound.

The whole police department is in grief after Saurabh’s death. When senior Noida Police Commissionerate officials arrived, they asked about the latest events.

The incident also injured two or three additional police officers, who are presently receiving medical attention. It is said that they are safe.

A complaint has been filed at the Mussoorie police station under 13 different laws, including the Arms Act, rioting, assault, and murder.

According to reports, Qadir, the primary accused, is a known history-sheeter with 24 criminal offenses filed against him. When the cops were being attacked, Qadir was able to get away.

Since the event, he and his fellow conspirators have been evading capture. To apprehend him and others involved in his escape, police have organized several squads. There is a major search going on in the region.

A sub-inspector from Noida made a complaint, which led to the registration of a formal case.

According to police authorities, the offenders will face harsh punishment and the guilty will be detained shortly.
