New Delhi: In a thrilling match of IPL 2025 Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 6 wickets and registered a spectacular victory. Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant scored a brilliant century to take the team to a big score but his innings ultimately went in vain. Bangalore achieved the difficult target of 229 runs in just 18.4 overs. Rishabh Pants explosive century Batting first Lucknow Super Giants scored 227 for 3 in 20 overs. The team had a fast start but soon Bretzke was bowled by Thushara after scoring 14 runs. After this Mitchell Marsh and captain Rishabh Pant took over the innings and shared a 152-run partnership for the second wicket. Marsh scored 67 runs in 37 balls which included 4 fours and 5 sixes. Pant showed one of his best performances and played an unbeaten innings of 118 runs in just 61 balls. During this he hit 11 fours and 8 sixes and batted at a strike rate of 193.44. In the end Puran also contributed 13 runs. Thushara Bhuvneshwar and Shepherd got one success each for RCB. Kohli-Pant clash but Mayank-Jitesh created history RCB batted aggressively in the reply innings. Philip Salt and Virat Kohli gave the team a quick start. Salt scored 30 runs in 19 balls and Kohli played a quick innings of 54 runs in 30 balls which included 10 fours. At one point in RCBs innings the score was 90 for 3 wickets but then Mayank Agarwal and Jitesh Sharma changed the direction of the match. Mayank scored 41 runs in 23 balls while captain Jitesh Sharma scored an unbeaten 85 runs in just 33 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 6 sixes. Both the players thrashed the Lucknow bowlers and finally led the team to victory in 18.4 overs. William ORourke took 2 wickets for Lucknow while Akash Maharaj and Avesh Khan got one wicket each. Result and way forward With this win RCB has kept itself firmly in the playoff race. At the same time Lucknow has suffered a big blow with this defeat. Despite Rishabh Pants century the teams bowling could not give them victory. Under the captaincy of Jitesh Sharma RCB is now moving towards the title with confidence.
