Delhi Pension Scheme 2025: The Delhi government is preparing to increase the pension of the elderly and disabled people. At least 5.3 lakh elderly and 1.2 lakh disabled persons in the capital are expected to get direct benefits from this decision.

Delhi Pension Scheme 2025: Delhi government is soon going to give big relief to senior citizens and disabled people. Under the government's scheme, the monthly pension given to these sections will be increased by ₹ 500. At least 5.3 lakh elderly and 1.2 lakh disabled persons of the capital are expected to get direct benefit from this decision.

Proposal went to the cabinet

According to sources, the Social Welfare Department has prepared a draft of this proposal and submitted it to the cabinet. The cabinet has now sent it to the Finance Department for further review. After the approval of the Finance Department, this proposal will go to the cabinet again for final approval.

How much pension will be available now?

If the scheme is approved, senior citizens between 60 and 69 years will now get a pension of ₹ 2,500 per month, which was earlier ₹ 2,000. At the same time, citizens aged 70 years or above will now get a pension of ₹ 3,000 per month, which was earlier ₹ 2,500.

Apart from this, beneficiaries of SC, ST and minority communities were earlier given ₹ 500 additional assistance, which is now proposed to be increased to ₹ 1,000.

Pension of disabled people will also increase!

There is a proposal to increase the pension for disabled people as well. People with 40% to 60% disability will now get ₹ 3,000 per month (earlier ₹ 2,500). At the same time, people with more than 60% disability will now be entitled to a pension of ₹ 5,500 per month, which was earlier ₹ 5,000.

Some conditions have also been fixed to avail the benefits of this scheme. Under which, the applicant should be a resident of Delhi for at least the last 5 years. It is mandatory to have a Delhi address in the Aadhar card. The annual family income should be less than ₹ 1 lakh. The applicant should not be getting any other pension or financial assistance from the central or state government.

Pension may increase for the second time within a year

It is worth noting that the senior citizen and disabled pension schemes were last amended in November 2024. Now if this new proposal is implemented, it will be the second major increase in pension in less than a year.
