New Delhi: According to reports scheduling issues may prevent Shubman Gill the recently named Indian Test captain from playing in the second warm-up match against the England Lions. The Gujarat Titans performance in the current IPL playoffs will determine his participation. Gills trip to England for the June 6 game would be greatly influenced if the Titans advance to the IPL final on June 3. The Indian cricket teams management has opted to rest Shubman Gill before the upcoming five-Test series as reported by the Indian Express. Indias new Test captain Shubman Gill is likely to miss the second warm-up game at Northampton which will be played on June 6. Gill is currently leading Gujarat Titans for IPL which has qualified for the qualifiers. The final is scheduled on June 3 and if his team qualifies it could be a scramble to reach England in two days time. So the team management has decided to give him some rest before the 46-day tour starts the report said. In his inaugural Test series as captain Gills emphasis on strategic planning rather than conventional practice games reflects a considered approach to his leadership role. His methods will be closely scrutinized when Indias first match begins at Headingley on June 20. Indias forthcoming bilateral series will be the nations first after the recent retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket. Sai Sudarshan and Karun Nair two seasoned batsmen and promising young players have been added to Indias middle order since Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket. Right-arm seamer Jasprit Bumrah will lead Indias bowling assault in England. Other pace bowlers Mohammed Siraj Prasidh Krishna Akash Deep Arshdeep Singh and Shardul Thakur will back him up.
