Rain Alert: Heavy rains expected in 6 states in the next 48 hours, warning also issued from Bay of Bengal

A weather system forming in the Bay of Bengal has triggered a heavy rainfall warning for the next 48 hours, triggering an alert in many parts of eastern India.

IMD Rainfall Alert: The mood of weather in the country has completely changed at this time. The southwest monsoon has arrived ahead of time and now it has reached many parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. According to the Meteorological Department, in the next two days, the monsoon will move more rapidly towards the north and north-east and will become fully active in West Bengal, Bihar and northeastern states.

A good low-pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal near the east coast, which may turn into a depression in the next 24 hours. Due to this, heavy rains have been predicted in Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas. The Meteorological Department has clearly said that this system will move northwards and it may cause widespread rainfall in more states in the coming days. Talking about Northeast India, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura have been warned of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on 29 and 30 May. Heavy rains are also expected in Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

The weather remains fierce in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Extremely heavy rainfall warnings have been issued at different places in these states during 28 to 30 May. More than 100 mm of rain has been recorded in the last 24 hours at many places in Kerala and coastal Karnataka. Also, normal life is being affected due to lightning and strong winds. In West India, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha are also experiencing thunderstorms. According to the Meteorological Department, Konkan and Goa may receive widespread rainfall till June 2. Parts of Gujarat are likely to receive light to moderate rains along with strong winds, which can go up to 40-60 kmph.

Talking about the situation in North India, the capital, western parts of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand are forecast to remain partly cloudy and have light rain with thunder. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and strong winds in Delhi-NCR from 28 to 31 May. The maximum temperature can remain between 36 to 40 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, the speed of strong winds can go up to 60 km per hour on May 30. While a heat wave warning has been issued in the western parts of Rajasthan, there is a possibility of light rain and dust storms in eastern Rajasthan. The temperature in Barmer and Jaisalmer remains above 45 degrees. To avoid the heat wave, people have been advised to avoid going out of their homes in the afternoon.
