New Delhi: Englands dominant performance against Zimbabwe propelled three of their top batsmen significantly up the ICC Mens Test Batters Rankings bringing them closer to the number one spot. Despite a strong performance from Harry Brook which narrowed the gap to only 15 rating points Joe Root retains his top ranking in the updated Test batting rankings. With 888 rating points Root maintained his top spot in the ICC mens Test batting rankings despite a modest 34-run innings. Smith (823) Williamson (867) Jaiswal (847) and Brook (873) however are still strong competitors paving the way for a challenging Test cricket season. Englands Ben Duckett Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley significantly improved their Test batting rankings after scoring centuries in the match against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge. In the rankings leading up to Englands five-match Test series against India Duckett rose thirteen places to 13th Pope jumped six places to 22nd and Crawley climbed eight places to a tie for 33rd. This series marks the beginning of Englands new ICC World Test Championship cycle. Despite a significant innings and 45-run loss to England Zimbabwes Sean Williams and Brian Bennett received positive ranking updates for their strong batting performances in the single Test match. Gus Atkinsons three-wicket haul in the recent Test match propelled him up one spot to 13th in the Test bowler rankings. Meanwhile teammate Shoaib Bashirs nine wickets resulted in a 14-place jump to 43rd. Despite an upcoming tour of England Jasprit Bumrah retains his top ranking as the worlds number one Test bowler. Meanwhile Atkinsons improved performance has elevated him to seventh place in the Test all-rounder rankings a list currently led by Ravindra Jadeja. Recent ODI cricket rankings show significant movement particularly for West Indies batsman Keacy Carty. His impressive 170-run performance in the third Ireland series match propelled him up the batting rankings. Cartys impressive performance raised him twenty spots to sixteenth position in the rankings. Balbirnies century also helped him move up eight spots in the rankings to forty-eighth. There has been a lot of change in the recent ODI cricket rankings especially for West Indies batsman Keacy Carty. He rose up the batting ranks after his outstanding 170-run performance against Ireland in the third game.
