New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja dismissed as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain three years ago has addressed the situation for the first time. His removal caused a strain in his relationship with the franchise raising concerns about his future with the team. Ravindra Jadeja briefly captained Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2022 IPL season taking over from MS Dhoni. However a poor start with only two wins in eight matches under Jadejas leadership led to Dhonis reinstatement as captain mid-season. CSK ultimately finished ninth in the league standings with a total of four wins. In the 2022 IPL season Ravindra Jadeja briefly captained Chennai Super Kings replacing MS Dhoni. His tenure however was short-lived due to a poor performance resulting in Dhonis return to the captaincy. Despite this CSK retained Jadeja for the 2023 season. He played a pivotal role in their championship victory securing their fifth IPL title. Ravindra Jadeja has remained largely silent regarding a recent incident. While he hasnt disclosed specifics he acknowledged reflecting on potential alternative actions. However he also recognized the limitations of a captains influence when the team underperforms. It was difficult. In T20 cricket every ball is an event. It is a fast game but for me it was an experience. I could have done better. As a captain if you are team is not doing well then all the blame falls on the captaincy. Thinking bowling changes fielding chances. Unluckily the team was not doing well. If we were winning and everyone was contributing then it was not rocket science. Sometimes normal things work but when your players batters and bowlers dont contribute you cannot win in the T20 format. I felt I could have done better could I have done differently. A few days I thought but then I realised that when batsmen and bowlers dont contribute then everything looks negative. If you perform well then everything looks well. This change worked. In the T20 format batting order needs to be shuffled said Ravindra Jadeja in a chat on Ravichandran Ashwins YouTube Channel. Following Rohit Sharmas retirement former Indian cricketer Ashwin suggested Ravindra Jadeja as the Test captain. However the position was ultimately awarded to Shubman Gill. Yes. Yes. I know all captains mindset. Every captain has a different mindset. I have played under Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) in all formats. He has a very simple mindset. He keeps fielders where a fielder is not there. I have understood that. Test format is like that you have to just chance two fielders that to according to bowler not batter. I feel Test captaincy is different. Its simple. You have to think about when a bowler is in rhythm. It is a bit calculative but it is not like T20 or IPL. In T20 every ball is an event. Test format is not that hectic. I have experience as you said. I have played under so many captains. In tests you do not have to shuffle batting order or look at left-right combination stated Jadeja. During a quick question-and-answer session Ashwin inquired about Jadejas ultimate career goal before retirement; Jadeja responded that he aspired to captain the Test team. Rest all I have achieved. Test captaincy. India captain. It is a very big thing said Jadeja. Jadeja further credited Ashwin for seeing the talent in him to lead the country. I have seen Mahi Bhai for so close he has never spoken about his personal milestones. He is always thinking about the other 10 players. I have also started thinking about how you can get other 10 players to perform Jadeja concluded. Although Ravindra Jadeja is Indias most seasoned player Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have been appointed captain and vice-captain. Despite a long career with the Indian team across all formats since 2009 Jadeja has not previously held a captaincy role.
