A 48-year-old man in Bengaluru killed his wife using a dumbbell and claimed his own life later. According to multiple reports, the bodies of the couple were first recovered by one of their sons, who had returned from school.

The incident happened on May 27, and the deceased were identified as Basavachari (48) and Suma (36).

Investigations into the case revealed that the couple stayed at a rented house in Vijayapura town and used to have frequent arguments over domestic issues.

One of the reports quoted the police and claimed the matter was reported after the couple’s 14-year-old son returned home from school.

The couple also has a 12-year-old son.

The body of the woman was found inside the bedroom with injuries to her head and blood splattered on the bedsheet and the floor, with stains on the wall.

The dumbbell allegedly used to hit the woman was also on the bed.

The man’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the hall of their house.

Police suspect that when the children went to school at 9 am, the couple fought again and in a fit of rage, Basavachari hit Suma with the dumbbell, and once he realised that she had died, he killed himself.

Further investigations into the case were underway.

While Basavachari ran a welding shop, his wife Suma was a homemaker.
