A new Research & Development (R&D) Center was opened in Bengaluru, India, by Pioneer India, a division of Pioneer Corporation, a world leader in automotive electronics and mobility solutions.
This achievement comes after the business announced in 2023 that it will open an R&D facility in Bengaluru (https://global.pioneer/en/corp/news/press/index/2786/). Pioneer’s strategic goal to increase its capacity for innovation and fortify its worldwide presence in product development is further supported by the new facility.
In order to meet the rising need for intelligent, secure, and reasonably priced mobility in both urban and developing markets, the Bengaluru R&D center is built to foster innovation across a wide spectrum of automotive and mobility technologies. With an emphasis on the following areas, the center will collaborate closely with Pioneer’s worldwide network of R&D and engineering centers:
• Technologies for Automotive Vision and Sensing (including 360° vision, digital mirrors, dash cams, and other camera systems)
• ADAS, or advanced driver assistance systems
• Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Digital Cockpit
• Cloud-Based Telematics & Infotainment
• Platforms for AI and Mobility Data
• Two-wheeled connected solutions (SOS features, smartphone integration, safety alarms, and navigation displays)
Through quicker development cycles and region-specific solutions, the center will cater to the unique demands of Indian automakers while simultaneously serving OEM, aftermarket, and B2B markets, including fleet operators and insurance providers.
Pioneer Corporation President and CEO Shiro Yahara said, “The opening of our Bengaluru R&D center is a crucial step in our global growth strategy.” “India is the perfect place to drive innovation in vision, connectivity, and intelligent systems for vehicles of all kinds because of its rich talent pool and vibrant mobility ecosystem.”
“To spearhead the creation of future mobility solutions, we are assembling a top-tier research and development team in India,” said Siva Subramanian, PhD, CEO of Pioneer Mobility AI & Connectivity Company (MAC). “This center will help shape products for both local and global markets, from digital cockpits and next-generation camera systems to two-wheeler connectivity and cloud-based platforms.”
Aniket Kulkarni, Managing Director of Pioneer India, and Manish Bhasin, Vice President – R&D, Pioneer India, joined the international executive members in celebrating the event and reaffirmed their strong commitment to providing integrated hardware and software solutions to Indian automakers in line with the organization’s objective of improving mobility experiences.
Specialized laboratories for camera testing, embedded systems, electronics, and software validation are housed in the state-of-the-art building. Additionally, it has areas for collaboration to support cross-functional and rapid product development.
Pioneer is currently seeking engineers in India with expertise in a variety of technical specialties, including as embedded software, computer vision, cloud connection, mobile integration, and artificial intelligence, as part of its growth plan. In the next months, the business intends to greatly expand its R&D staff in India.
With an emphasis on Sound, Safety, Security, Comfort, and Convenience, this expansion embodies Pioneer’s group mission, “Creating the Future of Mobility Experiences.”
One of the top companies in automotive entertainment and mobility solutions is Pioneer India Electronics Pvt. Ltd., a division of Pioneer Corporation in Japan. Stereos, speakers, subwoofers, dash cams, and accessories designed specifically for Indian customers are among the many in-car items it has provided since its founding in 2008.
With “Creating the Future of Mobility Experiences” as its group ambition, Pioneer India is expanding its local presence with R&D facilities in Bengaluru and Gurugram and intends to start producing in-car products in India in 2026. By establishing a whole value chain—R&D, production, and support—domestically, this calculated step will strengthen the nation’s dedication to innovation and client happiness.
