Eat this fruit daily on an empty stomach to boost liver health, says specialist

Indian liver specialist Dr. Shivkumar Sarin recommends eating two apples every morning on an empty stomach as part of a simple, effective approach to maintaining liver health.

In a recent interview shared on YouTube, Sarin outlined simple steps for maintaining liver function into old age. He emphasized that lifestyle choices play a more crucial role than medication in preventing liver disease, as reported by Indian news site News18.

According to the doctor, early signs of liver issues may include skin warts and darkened skin around the neck. He added that even individuals who lose weight may continue to struggle with fatty liver if other unhealthy habits persist.

Rather than relying solely on treatment, he encouraged adopting long-term dietary changes and physical activity to manage, and potentially reverse, the condition.

Apples, he said, are rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that help detoxify the liver and reduce fat accumulation. Regular consumption can lower the risk of liver- diseases over time.

Additionally, he noted that coffee may benefit the liver, as studies have shown it can reduce liver fat and lower disease risk.

However, he warned against fried, processed, and junk foods, which are harmful to liver function. He also urged people to avoid alcohol and smoking, both of which gradually damage the liver.

To keep the liver functioning well, he recommended at least 30 minutes of daily exercise and regular medical check-ups if symptoms arise.

He stressed that consistent, healthy routines are essential in preventing liver conditions such as fatty liver.
