Today we are talking about one such actor whose story talks about how she was making waves in front of the world. however what was happening behind the scenes was something nobody knew The veteran actor Dimple Kapadia stepped into the film industry in 1973 and became an overnight sensation with her cult classic Bobby. Becoming the face of a new era Dimples innocent face strong screen presence and expressive eyes captivated the hearts of millions; she even started the trend of Polka dot fashion. But behind this charming and elegant actress was a teenage girl navigating her way into the stardom of cinema by enduring pain emotional setbacks. In an interview Dimple openly shared how her appearance was tailored for her on-screen presence. “Bobby was an iconic film. The director was very special. He tailored my entire look. I had a very small forehead so he made me remove some of my hairline which was painful.” She further added “He gave me the widow’s peak and all my clothes were bought from abroad. He was very fond of Archie comics. This also speaks about how meticulous Raj Kapor was with the details.  He wasnt just creating a heroine he was also creating a fashion icon. Dimples outfits especially her polka dot blouse still resonate with the youth and have become a trend in pop culture. But what makes her story extraordinary is that this film made her a sensation and defined her career. In another interview previously she also shared how her struggle ended up being the reason behind getting this iconic role  “I was around 12 and suffering from leprosy. I had a mark on my elbow. A family friend once told me ‘I’ll make sure you’re ostracized from school.’ I didn’t even understand what that meant at the time” she recalled. This situation caught Rajs attention. He heard about a beautiful girl suffering from leprosy and wanted to meet her. Out of that setback came an opportunityand that’s how I got Bobby.” While Bobby marked Rishi Kapoor’s debut and became a box-office hit it was Dimple’s only film in the 1970s.  After that Dimple stepped away from the limelight after getting married to Rajesh Khanna. In 1980 she again made a comeback returning to the screen with Ramesh Sippy’s Saagar proving that she might have gone away from the limelight but her impact still sustains.
