Netflix was grappling with a significant service disruption affecting tens of thousands of subscribers across the United States, leaving scores of viewers unable to indulge in their preferred programmes or films.

In an alarming spike in reported faults, over 80,000 complaints were logged with outage monitor Downdetector in just two hours. Video playback troubles were the predominant grievance, alongside widespread server connection woes, which impacted users from coast to coast, including key urban regions like Washington DC, New York City, and Chicago.

The Mirror has reached out to Netflix for a statement on the matter. The disruption sparked considerable annoyance amongst consumers, prompting a torrent of vexed reactions on social networks.

One dismayed user vented: "Of course Netflix is down when I want to watch something for once."

Meanwhile, another expressed irritation: "I was trying to watch House and it stopped working when I tried moving onto the next episode.", reports

Notably upset, another subscriber exclaimed on Twitter: "Okay Netflix, stop with the funny business."

While the root of the network issues remains unverified, Netflix is reportedly delving into the cause of the outage.

Concerns extend beyond access issues, with some fans apprehensive about the potential loss of specific series. A particularly anxious message read: "Is the F1 Academy Netflix show just gone? ? ? Looked on both the website and the app and can't find it."
