Actress and dancer Nora Fatehi, who shot to fame with her stint on Bigg Boss 9, has come a long way since her reality TV debut. Known for her impeccable dance moves and massive fan following, Nora recently opened up about the challenges she faced during her early days in the Hindi film industry.
In an open chat with Rajeev Masand at IFFM Melbourne, Nora spoke of how she started her Bollywood journey when she first came to Mumbai at 22 all alone. Without having any godfather in the trade, she walked alone and encountered numerous rejections and false assurances. “I did have therapy,” she confessed, “because when you receive a lot of rejection and I received a lot people said I wasn’t good enough. People even laughed at me, asking if I was trying to be the next Katrina Kaif. It was awful.”

Nora revealed that numerous people came to her saying they would assist her in getting in touch with the best production houses, but their motives ended up being suspicious. “I thought, ‘God sent this person to help me,’ and I followed a lot of idiots,” she confessed. Believing the wrong individuals affected her mental well-being, which prompted her to get professional assistance.

In spite of the challenges, Nora remained strong. She entered the film industry as an actress through Roar: Tigers of the Sunderbans in 2014, but it was her performances on Bigg Boss 9 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9 that made her one of the best performers. Her dance routines fetched her universal praise and created multiple opportunities.
