At the same time, under section 87A, if the taxable income of a person or citizen is not more than 5 lakhs, then he gets the entire amount as a refund. Its maximum limit is Rs 12,500.

Apart from this, if the income of a senior citizen (age more than 60 years and less than 80 years) is less than Rs 3 lakh and the income of a super senior citizen (age 80 years or more) is less than Rs 5 lakh in a financial year, then they do not need to file a return.
